Your 13 weeks end with a graduation, and the publisher's own follow-up finds a minority losing ground after that date. Our reunion sessions are for that year, and none of them is session 14.
Further inquiry into this reversal revealed difficult life circumstances and little support for positive parenting.
A reunion session is support for positive parenting, delivered into that window.Where a man will recognize the territory, so a facilitator can say so out loud, and a director can see what's new. Three of the nine land nearest the two self-nurturing sessions and the feelings session, the half of the curriculum aimed at the man rather than the child.
| Our session | Lane | Nearest ground in Nurturing Fathers |
|---|---|---|
| Half the Time, Twice the Parent | Responsible parenting | A Time and Place for Fathering. |
| They're Always Watching | Responsible parenting | The Roots of Fathering, which is where a man first looks at what he is passing on. |
| Do It Again | Responsible parenting | A Time and Place for Fathering. Playshop, for what he is protecting the time for. |
| Have We Met? | Personal development | Self-Nurturing Skills I, and its Little Boy Within. |
| Just Say No | Personal development | Self-Nurturing Skills II, The Power To Meet My Own Needs. |
| The Empty House | Personal development | Overcoming Barriers to Nurturing Fathering, on the stress side rather than the substances side. |
| Say the Good Thing | Healthy relationships | The World of Feelings and Male Nurturance. |
| Stop Keeping Score | Healthy relationships | Nurturing Relationships II, Teamwork between Father and Spouse or Co-parent. |
| The End of Mind-Reading | Healthy relationships | Nurturing Relationships II, Teamwork between Father and Spouse or Co-parent, on the planning side. |
Two of these are deliberate: Fathering without Violence or Fear and Healing the Father Wound are the two we'd least want to open in a room we don't have back next week. A reunion session is one idea in one sitting. It isn't a shorter version of the thing he already finished.
This is where the two are least alike. Nothing in our sessions assumes he was at the last one, and nothing assumes there's a next one, which is what lets a cohort that graduated and dispersed come back for one session. What carries across runs in our direction: A man who has already done 13 weeks arrives knowing how to be in the room.
Your facilitator was trained to give the Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory, which reports on five constructs. A reunion session doesn't move a construct, and we don't claim it does. It produces one figure: the men who leave with one thing they want to start doing, in their own words, and the day they'll begin, out of the men in the room. Your site already holds the AAPI from before and after 13 weeks, which makes it the place to test one against the other.
Four axes: content, the men in the room, session structure and the outcome we measure. Sent to program directors on request.
